The Anchorage is one of the four late semi-detached Victorian villas perched overlooking the beach with superb uninterrupted views over The Bay, the iconic Ness Point headland and the Channel to the coast of France.  The beach is 2 minutes’ walk away. From the house you can hear the waves and smell the fresh sea air!

The accommodation is arranged over four floors.  On the lower ground floor is a formal dining room and terrace room, which as the name implies leads to a terrace looking out to the Channel.  Also on this floor is a shower room (useful after time spent on the beach).  Stairs lead up to the Upper Ground floor with the main sitting room and kitchen/dining room.  From the sitting room has a wonderful view over the bay and Channel, the kitchen/dining room looks up over the rear garden.  The sitting room stairs rise to the first floor, here you will find the main bathroom and 2 double bedrooms. The front one has superb channel views, the rear one overlooks the rear garden.  Going on up to the second floor there is a 2nd shower room and 2 further bedrooms.  The rear one overlooks the rear garden and the front one has arguably the best view of all with a dormer window giving a panoramic view of the beach, headland, bay and the Channel.

Outside to the front is a car port/parking space, steps lead up to the terrace, further steps lead up to a side terrace with an outhouse/boiler room with outside WC, workshop and tool shed.  The rear garden slopes up, this has been terraced with 2 grassed areas and at the top of the garden a further paved seating area under an apple tree.

The village of St Margaret’s at Cliffe offers local shopping, post office, doctor’s surgery with pharmacy, newsagent/general store, 2 pubs (one on the beach) and primary school (Ofsted rated ‘outstanding’). Grammar schools are at Dover and Sandwich and public schools at Dover, Broadstairs, Northbourne and Canterbury.  The Bay itself is sheltered for bathing, fishing, sailing etc.  The cliff-top to either side of The Bay is mainly in the care of the National Trust. Step out of the gate and onto the ancient Saxon Shore Way which is also part of the ‘Round Britain’ coastal heritage access route walks.  There are golf courses at nearby Kingsdown and Deal, with Royal St George’s at Sandwich (the venue of the British Open).  The cathedral city of Canterbury is 20 mins drive away and has excellent shopping, a theatre and, of course, cricket.

Excellent links to the Continent via the Port of Dover (approximately 4 miles), the Channel Tunnel (approx. 12 miles) and Eurostar from Ashford and London-St Pancras being 75 minutes from Martin Mill station (approx 2 miles). The historical town of Deal (Julius Caesar landed there, Nelson, the Duke of Wellington) nearby – approximately 5 miles away, has a vibrant high street, a Saturday market, leisure facilities and a pier. It retains much of its character as a former important maritime town. Fishing boats still go off the beach.
